A few views of Montreal. The architecture and artwork were incredible. While in art school, I was drawn to sculpture. The primary reason for this was the role that images, namely photographic images, played in our lives. Photographs are a 2 dimensional object that represent a 3 dimensional space, while existing in another 3 dimensional space. They are also projections in that they capture existing light, and preserve that light for as long as the photograph exists. All of this feels related to sculpture. When you walk around a Giacometti, for example, you get a sense of how he broke down the space that this form occupies and rebuilt it in his sculpture. Different angles give you an idea of how he could capture his subject in a compelling way.
